The 11th edition of ABAI Fest and Karnataka Animation, VFX, Gaming and Comics (KAVGC) Summit will commence from April 16-17, at The Lalit Ashok Hotel. This event supported by the Government of Karnataka, Dept. of IT, BT & S&T and KBITS. Bangalore is already the hub for animation, VFX, and gaming in India. Some of the top global companies like DreamWorks Animation, Technicolor, MPC, Zynga Games, Rockstar Games and also some of the very successful Indian studios like Xentrix Studios, Dhruva Interactive and Moonfrog labs operate out of here.


Hosting a mega event like this that boasts of a line-up of speakers and content comparable with some of the top global industry events solidifies Bangalore’s numero uno position in India. It’s been the endeavour of Government of Karnataka as well as ABAI to make this event accessible to a wide audience, the registration fees are nominal, Rs. 100 for students and Rs. 250 for professionals for two days of high-quality engagement and learning.


The highlights of this edition are top speakers like Mark Osborne, Director of The Little Prince and Co-Director of the blockbuster Kung Fu Panda, Michael Kurinsky, Production Designer of Hotel Transylvania 2 / Sony Pictures Animation and Mark Skaggs, Director, Moonfrog Labs – creator of hit games like FarmVille, CityVille and more. Cutting edge technology is used in the animation, VFX and gaming Industry, there is an effort being made to put Bangalore on the forefront of technology within the animation, VFX, and gaming space. Engineering colleges are being tapped to showcase career opportunities within the AVGC industry and the hackathon is one of the steps in that direction.


PUC college students too have been tapped to come experience the career possibilities in the animation, VFX and gaming industry, career fair and talks are part of the event. In addition, the event for the first time is creating an education – industry interface, a forum for constructive dialog and better alignment with market realities and requirements.
