Scammers comes up with new and innovative methods to fool the people, even the most reliable names on internet like google is not being spared. Complaints are flooded with online scams relating to loosing money for just searching on Google.
A deputy manager with mobile phone company in mumbai started searching google for contact details of local wine shop in order to get the wine home delivered. After getting the contact details he called a person who claimed he is from local wine shop, believing him he placed his order. He made the entire payment through his credit card as its required while shopping for anything online.
Soon he received a message of transaction worth 31,777 rs, in fit of anger he called the number again, they informed that it was an error and the transaction would be reversed, surprisingly another two transactions of 31,777 rs and 61,000 rs were made, reportedly he gave away his credit card details along with OTP he received to the scammer on the phone.
The scammers have invented a innovative method of scamming on Google, they simply list fake businesses on Google, and replace original numbers with fake ones. Option of editing the phone numbers is still available on Google, hence the general public is advised not search contact details of shops, banks etc. on Google.
