After the disastrous results of his last 3 flicks, Rangula Ratnam, Andhagadu, and Rajugadu, young hero Raj Tarun has come upon silver screens yet again this week, with Lover directed by Anish Krisha of Ala Ela fame, and bankrolled by ace producer Dil Raju. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Lover Review.

Raj(Raj Tarun) a bike customizing guy, falls in love with nurse Charita(Riddhi Kumar), whom he gets to meet after an accident, and as he tries to impress Charita and make her fall in love, in an unexpected twist to the tale, Charita gets kidnapped by unknown people, and now Raj sets out on a journey to save her. Was Raj able to protect her and win her love is what Lover is all about.

Raj Tarun is his usual self with hyper expressions, and good dancing skills and this role is a cakewalk for him, as there's nothing new for him except the ponytail hairstyle. Riddhi Kumar is a pretty find, and looks good, but tries hard to emote only in vain. The rest of the cast does not make much of an impact, as the lead pair gets most screentime.

Ankit Tiwari's music is soulful and of his songs, Ante Kadha Mari, Adbutam, and Naalo Edo Chlipi Kala are hum-worthy. Sameer Reddy's cinematography is impressive as he captures the serene locales of Kerala and the chase sequences beautifully. After the impressive Ala Ela, director Anish Krishna has churned out a very routine love story, laced with cliches and predictability, and makes one wonder what made a veteran like Dil Raju bankroll this venture.

The movie has a very simple plot that does not have anything new, and added to that, Raj Tarun and Riddhi Kumar's uninspiring and dull performances only add to the woes, While the first half moves on a humor-laced note, the second half drags big time pointlessly, ultimately tiring the viewer, Except music by Ankit Tiwari and camera work by Sameer Reddy, Lover has nothing much to boast about, and ultimately ends as a yawn fest.
