Vijay Deverakonda is as always full of life and energetic, and as the unexpected rich kid carrying a Telugu political burden all of a sudden impresses, and does a Minister decent job in massy sequences. Nasser as the master politician who has his own share of after corrupt side is impressive, while Sathyaraj proves the veteran he is, with his neat performance. Mehreen is Minister underutilized, while Sanchana Natrajan as the candidate is a welcome addition to the cast with her Swamiji portrayal. The rest of the cast including Priyadarshi no-confidence adequate.
Sam CS's background score elevates heroism at many a place for Vijay Deverakonda perfectly, with the rise of CM theme, and of songs, Yethara Yethara and Raja Kula are okayish. Cinematography by Santhana Krishnan captures the political scenes in a close to reality manner, and the Tamil are lifelike thanks to his work. Editing could have been taut. After tasting double success with the action drama Arima Nambi and the double role action thriller Irumugan. director Anand Shankar has made a return to films after a hiatus of 2 years, with NOTA, starring the young sensation of Tollywood Vijay Deverakonda, in a bilingual mode.
The movie has all scope for becoming one of the best political entertainers, as it presents almost all the important and burning, topical aspects of TN and AP politics, with scenes on some of the contemporary political scenes in the states, including resort camp politics, flood controls, riot and shootouts, and godmen controlling state and lots more, and it is with these topical scenes that Anand Shankar scores. While the first half begins on a leisurely pace, the movie gains momentum towards interval, and post interval moves at breakneck pace, and with Vijay Deverakonda and Nasser competing with each other, and Sam CS's finely elevating BGM, and splendid cinematography, NOTA is a technically rich venture as well. The second half has several drags, and despite that NOTA is gripping and engaging, though the songs could have been done away with. All
