Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in association with Ivory Education has launched a Post Graduate Certificate in Global Economics & Business Management. The course facilitates updated information and in-depth knowledge about the concepts of Global Economics & Business Management. The program is starting on November 26, 2015 with a component on campus, followed by live classes by e-learning available globally.

Speaking on the launch, Dr. Vijaya Katti, Chairperson and Program Director said, “IIFT is introducing a full-fledged program in Global Economics & Business Management for the first time. We believe that it will set a benchmark for high-quality education in this area.”

The program will start with a four-day full-time campus component at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. Other live classes for the program will be conducted through live e-learning. The Program Director of the program is Dr. Vijaya Katti and Co-Program Director is Dr. Debashis Chakraborty. Prof. Katti has nearly 4 decades of leadership experience in global business and economics. Before joining IIFT she had been with UGC, Dayal Singh College, Aurobindo College, Ministry of Industry, Indian Council for Social Science Research and others. She has done her Post Doctoral Research at Centre for Economic Studies & Planning at JNU. She has a Ph.D. from Nagpur University.

She has authored several highly respected books including Globalising Indian Textiles – Threats and Opportunities, Non conventional Technology Based Services, India’s Textile policy for the 21st Century, Indo-Nepal Trade: Post WTO Dimension and others. She has several other publications and industry projects to her credit. She has also given courses for United Nations and other international organisations at Egypt, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Malaysia, Tanzania, Switzerland, UAE and others countries.

Dr. Chakraborty has over 14 years of experience in International Trade, Indian Economic Development and WTO. He has been with IIFT for over 9 years. Before that he had been with Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies. He has done his Ph.D in Economics from JNU.

He has authored several books including Environmental Scenario in India: Successes and Predicaments, Towards a Healthy Future? Indian and Global Experiences, The WTO Deadlocked: Understanding the dynamics of International trade, Collected Essays on Economic Development: In Honour of Prof. Asok Barman, Anti-Dumping: Global Abuse of a Trade Policy Instrument, The Trade Game: Negotiation Trends at the WTO and Concerns for Developing Countries and Beyond the Transition Phase of the WTO: An Indian Perspective on Emerging Issues. He has many other publications and industry projects to his credit. He is a life member of Indian Economic Association, Bengal Economic Association and Indian Econometric Society.
