There are several controversies in the past over movie titles about one film using the title registered by another production house. Looks like one more is in the offing now with Balakrishna's next. The makers wanted to have 'Lion' as the title of the movie. The title is available in AP Film Chamber of Commerce but Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce raised an objection that it is already registered with it by a Telangana producer.
The makers of NBK98 negotiated with the producer who registered it since he is not going to make a film with it. The producer had demanded a whopping 5 Lakhs for the title. After several failed negotiations, the makers of NBK98 named their film 'THE LION'. It is evident that an extra word is added to bypass the rules and anyways, the title will be used as 'Lion' itself.
However a controversy is confirmed. Since Balakrishna belongs to Andhra Pradesh and is also an MLA of Telugu Desam Party which is considered as arch-rival to the Telangana's ruling TRS party. Telangana Chamber heads are very stern about releasing the title even though the producer who blocked it has not used it for several months and is also not going to use it in near future.
The first look teaser of the movie is being planned for release on January 1st (the stroke of midnight of December 31st). Trisha will be romancing Balayya for the first time in this movie. There are rumours that the movie will be based on a real life character. Rudrapati Ramana Rao will be producing the film under his SLV Cinema banner. Mani Sharma who gave several chart buster audios to Balayya in the past will be composing the music for this film.
