The most anticipated movie 'Theri' has finally been released and the premiere shows have ended in overseas. Vijay who had a bad time with 'Puli' looked to bounce back and has kept his hopes on 'Theri'. Atlee who was Director Shankar's protege has handled a routine script with emotional backdrop. So what is this movie all about ? Is there anything special ? To answer your questions, we would say 'Nothing'. The movie has simple plot which we would have seen in 'N' number of movies. As we reported, the movie deals on crimes against women. Apart from that, it also focuses on Child labour issues. Vijay Kumar is a honest police officer who goes against crimes. He is against Child labour, fights against goons and tries to clean the city. A girl gets raped and murdered by a villain and when he tries to arrest, he finds that he is the son of Mahendran. However he hangs him in middle of road and punishes him and feud starts between the protagonist and antagonist. In return he murders Samantha and whole family. As usual, the protagonist hides under a new name and finally transforms into the old action hero and kicks villain butt.

Vijay steals the show as a performer. But his dialogue delivery and modulation is totally annoying and he speaks as if he has 'hiccup' trouble. As we said, the movie has lip-lock, glamour and violence. Censors always turn blind for Vijay ! In 'Chellakutty' song Samantha showcases her 'Oomph' factor and Vijay is seen as a 'Dwarf'. Watch out for it ! Vijay as usual dominates screen with his dance and action scenes. Also he speaks a full length Malayalam dialogue and that is something to be cheered by Malayalam fans. Samantha and Amy Jackson share equal screen space and both of them did justice to their roles. Both have their equal share of songs too ! But Samantha gets the benefit of 'LIP-LOCK' with Vijay. However more than Chellakutty glamour, Samantha looks gorgeous in 'En Jeevan'' song where she gets married and gives birth to baby. Amy Jackson has finally done a neat role after 'Madarasapattinam'. She suits the character perfectly. Mahendran who was given much hype has done a powerful role. He is the biggest plus for the movie. Rest of them are just fillers.

G.V.Prakash fails big time on his milestone movie. Lots of tunes are lifted from other songs. No wonder he lost his momentum as he moved towards acting these days. Antony.L.Ruben couldn't save the movie from such a sluggish screenplay. The first half drags a lot and it tests our patience. The interval block was good. But we have seen such cliches in most number of movies. George C. Williams cinematography was exemplary. He has done a neat job. The lightings and the angles are so attractive. Production values are high and there are no complaints. The movie falls flat due to Screenplay. Atlee once again proved he can just make a story from rehash of past Tamil movies. When you watch the movie, you can relate every 'FRAME' to another Tamil movie. Such a worse screeplay. Plagiarism is at its peak. Not a good sign from the upcoming director.

Vijay must really wake up from his sleep in order to survive in this industry.  He just faces harsh time due to poor script selection. Samantha has done a solid role. But still why is that 'Chella Kutty' song and Lip-lock kept ? Is it a must that Vijay movies must have some 'ADULT' content ? Nainika is the show stealer. Her cute and innocent looks are a huge plus. Mahendran is a powerful villain. But even he is wasted due to a sluggish screenplay. Atlee deserves a 'BIG SLAP' for taking a movie with old Tamil scenes.
