Tamil industry’s multi talented personality Manivannan (59) passed away today (June 15, 2013) at his residence in Nesapakkam due to cardiac arrest. He is survived by wife, son (Raghu) and a daughter (Jyothi). Manivannan was actor, writer and director who worked for over 400 films. Manivannan’s 50th directorial venture was a political-satire Nagaraja Cholan MA MLA, a sequel to highly successful Tamil film Amaidhi Padai (In Telugu, Yamadharma Raju MA).


Manivannan started his film career as a writer. He penned dialogues for films like Tick Tick Tick and Kathal Ovium. So far, he directed fifty films including a few ventures in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. Celebrities are expressing their condolences through social networking sites for this rare personality.


Siddharth says; the great Manivannan sir is no more. Many lives in cinema are what they are today because of him. Writer, director, actor…gone too soon. RIP. Sundar C assisted Manivannan sir on almost 10 films including ‘Amaidhi padai’…many things I have learnt from Sundar, he learnt from his guru.
