Non-availability of land has become a major problem for the prestigious 2BHK scheme of the Telangana government. The state government is now eyeing vacant and unused land that belongs to various central government departments and institutions. Only GHMC needs about 400 acres for the scheme in Greater Hyderabad Limits.

The state government is looking at 800 acres of vacant land belonging to IDPL at Balanagar and some other land parcels for some institutions such as Survey of India and HCL. The state also sought railway quarters' land near Secunderabad railway station for the housing scheme.

Once the state government is keen on identifying the land, KTR himself will meet Union ministers of concerned departments and request them to hand over the land for the housing scheme. It has to be seen how they respond!
