South Actress Monika who has appeared as a child artiste in many including Suhasini Maniratnam's directorial venture 'Indra' and as a teenager in Thangar Bachchan's path breaking film 'Azhagi' has converted to Islam religion. After the conversion she has also changed her name as M.G.Rahima.
“I am converted to Islam not on monetary concerns. I am strongly inspired towards the Islamic tenets which I read in books. I am also quitting acting in films and will be entering into wedlock soon. I promised to announce my wedding plans soon,” Monika said in a press meet.
Monika has acted in many films and also appeared as the lead heroine in a few films which failed to gain her a foothold in the industry. The actress is best known for her performances in films like Azhagi, Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi and Silandhi.
She was acted in some of telugu films which includes Shiva Rama Raju;Otte Ee Ammai Evaru Teleedu, Maa Alludu Very Good; Koduku. In 2012 she rechristened her name to Parvana for Malayalam films.However it is still not known what exactly made him to opt for one of the biggest religions in the world.Recently kollywood music director Yuvan Shankar Raja also converted to Islam by leaving Kollywood fraternity in big surprise.
