Actor Rajendra Prasad who is contesting for MAA President had received a severe setback after two of his panel members announced quitting the election. Shivaji who is contesting for Chief Secretary post and Uttej who is in fray for Joint Secretary Post announced their withdrawal. Both of them clarified that they are withdrawing due to personal problems not due to any external pressures.

Nagababu, Shivaji Raja and Uttej were supporting Rajendra Prasad's candidature since the start. Now Rajendra Prasad is all alone with the support of Nagababu. Rajendra Prasad refused to talk on this sudden incident. Senior Actress Jayasudha is contesting against Rajendra Prasad for President Post. She is having the support of Dasari Narayana Rao and Former President Murali Mohan.

Caste rivalry surfaced once again in Tollywood with this contest. The Kapu faction is behind Rajendra Prasad while Kamma faction is supporting Jayasudha. Murali Mohan from Kamma Community had worked for two terms for the association and so Kapu community is not accepting the dominance of Kammas in the association further and so they are keen on going for election. Needless to say, Kammas are not ready to accept that.
