SS Rajamouli's magnum opus film, Baahubali is shattering all the records left right and center across the globe. The movie is even surprising the trade pundits in Tollywood by creating new benchmarks. In almost all the places, the previous records are bettered in days’ time. While everyone are happy with this bang bang, one group is totally offended by the makers of Baahubali. They are none other than commercial tax officials of Telangana and AP.
Owing to the huge demand, the distributors make sure that the movie has got record number of benefit shows. Almost all the A, B, C centers screened multiple benefit shows of the movie. However none of these shows have gone in to account. In almost all the places, zero or meagre entertainment tax is paid to the commercial tax department despite the sensational ticket prices.
Baahubali is going unfazed at the box office
It is said that
instruction have gone to the officials to verify in to the records and book the
theatre owners who evaded taxes. However this is not an easy task as most
benefit shows are sold to third parties and there are no mention of these shows
in Daily Collection Reports (DCRs). On the other side, Baahubali is going
unfazed at the box office. Even bookings for the week days are too good.
