The Andhra Pradesh government has reportedly silently removed the hundi which was kept in the Secretariat, after getting flak from various sections of the society for last few days. This is being deemed as something embarrassing and a rather amateur gesture. The finance department reportedly asked the endowments department to place a hundi in L Block of the Secretariat for collecting donations for the construction of the new capital city for Andhra Pradesh. But this decision has attracted widespread criticism. Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao has reportedly ordered officials to immediately take away the hundi. For a decision taken by few political parties to bifurcate the state, it was not making any sense to expect money from the people. The finance department had earlier planned to set up three hundis one at the Secretariat, one at Chief Minister’s camp office and one at his residence for mobilizing the funds from public but it looks like this move has backfired.
