The Winter session of Delhi Assembly began finally on an acrimonious note. BJP MLA's demanded AAP legislators to pay homage to late VHP leader Ashok Singhal and then it was rejected by the Speaker.

However the session started with a homage to victims of Paris terror attack and it was followed by a tribute to Ashok Singhal.  The ruling party MLA's which include Jagdeep Singh, Amantullah Khan, Somnath Bharti, vociferously protested the demand made by Gupta. BJP party said Singhal has participated in the demolition of Babir Masjid in Ayodya and he doesn't deserve a tribute.

There was a huge war of words between the two sides. Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal said that his demand can not be fulfilled as he does not hold any constitutional post. After huge opposition Ashok Singhal's name was removed from official records.

'Communal backdrop' and 'divisive role' were shown as examples. However the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was not present in the assembly. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was present. The topic of 'intolerance' was also discussed.
