Tamil Fishermen were once again arrested by Sri Lankan Navy. Today morning about 20 Fishermen who went to fishing were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy personnel and they were charged for violating the International Maritime Boundary Line. The news came as a shock and the concerned authorities were warned. 


But they were already taken into custody along with four boats. Regarding this Assistant Director of Fisheries Department Gopinath said, "Four boats and twenty Fishermen were taken into custody today morning as they have violated the International Maritime Boundary Line. 


Eleven of the fishermen belong to Rameshwaram and they were arrested near Katchatheevu. It has to be noted that the Katchatheevu is an islet which was given to Sri Lanka by India in the year 1974. The rest of the fishermen are from Jagadapattinam in Pudukottai district. 


They were trapped near Srilankan coast Kangesanthurai. It was also said a boat has sunk and six fishermen were rescued by other fishermen and they were brought to safety by Rameshwaram people.
