Incessant rains has troubled lots of lives in Chennai. Water swamps and logs are found everywhere. The rescue operations are dull and people are still suffering. Chennai Corporation works more only in VIP areas. The rest are suffering a lot. Despite having lots of relief measures, things are moving slow.
Lots of celebrities, NGO's have donated in lakhs for the rain relief fund. The centre also has provided funds of Rs.940 Crores. But still most of them feel, the relief fund is being misused.
Regarding this, an anti-corruption movement called Arrapor Iyakkam has demanded the AIADMK Government to list their plans for spending the flood relief money. The party says government has announced Rs.500 Crores as relief works and centre has provided 940 cores. They also asked the government to release the list of families who received the amount.
Jayaram Venkatesan who is the coordinator for the movement said, "There is no transparency from the government about how this money is going to be spent. Government should ensure that every penny is spent wisely."
