Recently Lankan Navy personnel arrested 20 fishermen and captured their fishing boats. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha has wrote a letter to centre and she requested to take immediate steps in order to release them.
But opposite party leader and DMK Chief Karunanidhi has said if the centre can contact army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag who is now in Sri Lanka, he can facilitate talks with that government and an amicable solution can pop up.
He said, "Indian Army chief Dalbir Singh has gone to Sri Lanka on a four-day visit. I request the central government to get in touch with him and ask him to end all the problems of Indian fishermen." Regarding Jayalalitha's letters he said, "This has been a long story.
The fishermen's arrest and the letters by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha to centre is just a long tale and there is no solution to these incidents. If both State and Central government doesn't make a movie, then this will be a regular story."
