Like never before even during the drought days of Chandrababu in
United AP, in a winter season, Hyderabad is now gripping with a highly
serious and severe water crisis. The intensity of this problem could be
gauged from the fact that some households are using mineral water cans
for toilets.
There are colonies in Hyderabad
which are not getting proper water supply for last 20 days. All the lake
water resources of Hyderabad have hit all time low levels due to severe
dearth of rainfall. Pumping from Manjeera and Singur has been stopped
as they have gone fully dry!
The problem is
reportedly expected to intensify further and even reach unimaginable
proportions by summer if there is no blessing from the rain gods.
Municipal water supply in Hyderabad has been stopped early November
while water tankers are the only solution for people.
Sources
say that even water Board’s tankers are of no use since the waiting
list for single water tanker is stretching for as long as 20-25 days
while many tankers are being diverted illegally by bribing officials.
Private water tankers are fleecing people by charging nearly 2500 per
tanker.
