Chennai city corporation has assured Madras High court that the corporation will take all steps to demolish the Old buildings in George Town region.  The High court ordered to demolish old buildings with respect to a petition filed by social activist Traffic Ramasamy.

The case came for hearing and his plea to demolish the buildings posed lots of danger to inmates of that area. The residents said they are ready for demolition, if Corporation officials are ready to bear the cost. They also asked to serve notices to the owners.

But so far the corporation commissioner has never took any action and once again Ramasamy filed another petition to punish him and other officials who were irresponsible. Corporation counsel told the bench that all endeavours will be made to complete the exercise within three months.

With this promise from Chennai corporation, the case was closed. The counsel also said that during this demolition there will not be any assistance from Police. But the High court ordered the Police to provide some assistance to avoid mishap.
