Arun Jaitley has finally said that Individual growth of state matters to fight against Poverty. He said each state must work on strong economic growth. He also said that the state has to push up for country's GDP  and give a 'Cutting edge' to fight poverty and generate more jobs.

He also said that additional growth has to come from eastern states like West Bengal where industrialization had suffered because of the policies followed in the last 35 years. During the second edition of Bengal Global Business Meet in Kolkata, Jaitley said,

"When we see a global situation which is so adverse, India's GDP growth is 7.5%. And we feel that it is difficult to add 1% more. If we add that, it will give us cutting edge to fight poverty and generate more jobs. Given the structure of India's federal polity, it is imperative that the states grow as well.

Despite political differences, strong states mean a stronger India. West Bengal contributes nearly 6 to 7 per cent of national GDP. We need to get more from other states too. The additional growth matters."
