GHMC elections finally ended after lots of drama and hype. Tensions prevailed in Mirchowk area in the old city of Hyderabad as there was a clash between MIM and Congress workers during elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Police who were just mere spectators took laththi charge to disperse the crowd. Some leaders and activists were even injured during this mishap. So what happened actually ?

The initial troubles started soon after Congress party's Telangana unit president Uttam Kumar Reddy and senior leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir came to the Mirchowk police station to demand release of party leader Mohammed Ghouse, who was earlier arrested in Khilwat area. Congress leaders said that Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) along with TRS government and police indulged in fake votes.

Congress were fighting for re-poll in Puranpul division. MIM president and Hyderabad Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi also came to police station and they were raising slogans against Congress leaders. Naturally, this lead to heated arguments and that caused the disputes !
