The DMK Party has made a petition to the Election Commission that the state government had distributed flood relief money after the Model Code of Conduct has come into existence. The complaint was filed by the Organization Secretary of the DMK Party R.S. Bharathi, has said the party has received various reports from many parts of TN that banks were banks were crediting flood relief funds to the account holders, which is in favor of AIADMK Party.


As per the complaint Bharathi has said in the account of Vasanthi an amount of Rs. 5ooo was credited under the head flood relief. He said the banks are against the Model Code of Conduct in those particular area and they are in favor of AIADMK Party.


Bharathi has urged the Election Commission to give instructions to all the banks in the state not to deposit any amount as flood relief till the code is in force. The state CEO Rajesh Lakhoni has said the EC will look into the matter and take necessary action when it is found true.


Meanwhile the EC for the first time has declared all the polling stations in TN as “No Smoking Zones”. Lakhoni also said they have invoked the provisions of the Tobacco Control act and they will enforce it in the upcoming assembly elections.
