The AP government has decided to construct an `iconic building' with 23 floors in the upcoming capital city of Amaravati for non-resident Indians (NRIs) of Telugu origin and the NRI Bhavan will come up in the core capital area adjacent to government buildings and it will be designed to appear like the Roman alphabet `A'.


Vemuri Ravi the advisor to AP government on NRI affairs has told that a special purpose vehicle will be created to construct the NRI Telugu Bhavan and they will catapult the work after registering a society for Telugu NRIs in Vijayawada.


The AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has recently approved the idea and it will be a state-of-the-art structure where economic, entertainment and business activities will be conducted and the design will be prepared by a South Korean company.


Meanwhile, the state government on Thursday has issued orders setting up a committee to monitor the development of a major logistic centre under public-private partnership model in the capital region. The NRI wing of the state government will pool donations upward of 1,000 US dollars from Telugu NRIs from 86 countries.
