As expected this may be one more U turn by the Telangana Chief
Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao whose much hyped bonanza of announcing new
districts on the occasion of Telangana’s state formation day may not
mostly happen on June 2. Here are further details regarding this.
The
proposed district reorganization is not expected to materialize at
least before October as many procedural issues are pending and the
government may be taking the time to address them. The announcement came
as a sudden surprise to many and they were confused about it.
KCR
had said earlier in May that he would be announcing the new districts
in the form of second anniversary gift for Telangana. While the number
of districts will grow from 10 to 25, political circles are still in
heat with the possible new districts and new maps that are in
circulation.
With only 10 days left for
statehood celebration, the chief minister has now woken up to the
reality that there is practical difficulty in announcing the new set of
districts on June 2 and has called a crucial meeting with the district collectors. Let us hope all this happens in a streamlined manner.
