For a long time, the old city area in Hyderabad has been under the iron grip of the Majlis-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM) party and this is led by the Owaisi brothers- Asaduddin, Akbaruddin. But over the years many have complained about how that part of Hyderabad has been suffering due to lack of development, increase of poverty for pure political reasons.
But in the present scenario, both the brothers are in trouble for their own reasons. Old cases are being dug on them and after the MIM parted ways with congress the problems have increased. With this, it is being speculated that MIM is contemplating on rejoining hands with congress once again.
The 2014 elections are fast approaching and it is important for MIM to focus on the old city area to keep their power intact and scuttle the resistance coming there. Will this be pushing MIM to settle matters with congress? The YSR Congress and its founder Jagan is a close friend to the Owaisi brothers so this is going to be a testing time for MIM and its leaders.
