Earthquakes shook countries across the world.  First a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck European nation Italy and killed around 38 people. 


According to the spokeswoman for the civil protection department, the the region was rocked by powerful earthquake in the mountainous heart making rescue operations difficult. 


Immacolata Postiglione spokesperson said 27 people die in the towns of Accumoli and Amatrice and another 10 in Arquata region when earthquake struck early Wednesday. More details are awaited. 


Fears are on as more than 150 are missing and rescue operations are underway. The quake was of the same intensity to that of the Aquila earthquake in April 2009 in which 309 people died.


At the same time earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck central Myanmar according to US Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake shook the buildings across the country and its tremors are felt across India in the states of Jharkhand,Bihar ,Bengal and Assam. Services of metros have been closed in Kolkata after tremors were experienced.

Anurag Srivastav,Darjeeling district magistrate said “Tremors were felt in Darjeeling and Siliguri in North Bengal, but there is nor report of casualty so far,”

In Myanmar, buildings across the biggest city Yangon and other cities shook according to the eye witnesses. Offices in Thailand capital Bangkok too shook for few seconds. Quake was felt even in Bangladesh which is west of Myanmar.

Myanmar earthquake resulted in death of a person and damaged ancient temples especially 66 stupas in Bagan. The quake struck 25km (15.5 miles) west of Chauk, at a depth of 84km,according to USGS.
