Many are left wondering whether Hyderabadis known for their helping nature have lost their human touch. In a distrubing trend most of them instead of helping the accident victims, instead were seen clicking photos and selfies and uploading on social media to get more clicks and views.

A 19 year old college dropout N.Srikanth took his father's Tata Bolt car and went on a joy ride. But his joy ride turned out to be death knell for many when he rammed a group of nursing students waiting for bus on the roadside, injuring all of them. As many as 11 students were injured while two students have serious fractures.

Police said “His father parked the car at their house and was sleeping when the boy took it out. Srikant has a driving licence and was not drunk,” . Police added "The youth, N. Srikant, is a college dropout. He took his father’s car out for a drive. “Along the way, he inadvertently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake and then could not control the vehicle. He was already overspeeding,”

Nursing students visited Apollo Hospital as a part of their curriculum to findout children for pulse polio. What was disturbing was after the accident no one helped and the victims were left without help for hours.

Sonia C Sabu, one among the 80 to 85 fourth year nursing students on polio immunization duty said “We were on our door-to door inspection (in a Jubilee Hills slum) when we got a call from one of our friends informing us about the accident. We took at least 25 minutes to reach the spot. But when we got there we were appalled to see that no one had taken the injured to the hospital,“

She added “Left with no choice, I carried one of my friends, who was seriously injured, to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw. So did some others. Later the ambulance reached the spot and took the rest of the victims around 11:30 am,“

Nurse OJ Crystal, sharing the reaction of the bystanders said “ A lot of people gathered at the accident spot, but none of them came forward to help our friends. They were busy taking pictures. Our injured friends were forced to wait till we reached the spot.Such inhuman behaviour in times of emergency is very disheartening,“

She added had the primary healthcare centre (PHC) at Shaikpet waas open, then the accident wouldn't havev happened. Many injured said they were unconscious till the treatment started.

A victim recollected “ All Iremember is sitting on a scooter and chatting with my friends. When I opened my eyes, I had a severe headache and couldn't remember anything. Our friends who brought us to the hospital are suffering from severe back and leg pains as they had to carry us to the autos that got us here,“
