1.  Results of Maharashtra civic polls great for AIMIM: Owaisi :  MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said the results of the Maharashtra civil polls were "very encouraging" for his party as it won a number of seats and also opened account in the all-important Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
2.  Healthy lifestyle can’t spare you from cancer :   What causes cancer? This is the big question that has been haunting the medical community for years as no one really knows what’s causing the deadly disease.
3.  Dharna Chowk out of Hyderabad :  Dharna Chowk, the venue of thousands of protests for several years, may be history soon. The state government has reacted positively to a proposal of the Hyderabad police to shift Dharna Chowk to the city outskirts, citing public inconvenience and traffic congestion. According to police statistics, around 1,900 dharnas were held in 2106 at Dharna Chowk.
4.  Telangana plans own Aadhaar Act :  After the Land Acquisition Act, the state government is all set to bring its own version of the Aadhaar Act, making the card mandatory to avail government services and schemes.
5.  Reformed thief begins life as tea stall owner :  Kammani Sreenu says that police who used to come to his house late in the night to arrest him, will now come and have chai  at his new tea stall. Sreenu, 28, was arrested more than ten times in the last ten years and was even detained under PD Act.
6.  Nizam college students booked for pelting stones at cops :  Central Zone Police booked a case against some Nizam College students for pelting stones at cops and injuring a constable during the rally on Wednesday.
7.  5-year-old beaten by principal, suffers severe injury :  A five-year-old student of Marie Pia’s Good Shepherd High School in Nagole was allegedly beaten by the school’s principal when he did not look at the blackboard in class, while she was teaching numbers.
8.   First woman gets Wakf Board seat :  The state government on Thursday constituted the Telangana State Wakf Board with 11 members, giving a seat to a woman for the first time.
9.  Do we need to work in US after this: father of Indian injured in Kansas shooting :  The father of the Indian techie injured in a shooting at a Kansas bar on Thursday, has questioned the need to move to the US for work following the incident.
10.  Techie nabbed for stalking :   A 24-year-old techie who allegedly harassed a woman techie in the name of love was arrested by KPHB police on Thursday. Police said G. Nagaraju proposed to the victim six months ago and had been stalking her since then.


Andhra Pradesh
1.  Turmeric losing status as miracle healing spice :  Just as turmeric is gaining popularity in the West, the US Food and Drugs Administration has issued an import alert against some Indian turmeric exporters. Consumers in the West have begun consuming turmeric in the form of turmeric capsules, supplements and even a latte.
2.  YSRC’s strategy to corner TD :  The YSRC is planning to establish a movement, demanding that the TD government fulfil its election promise to provide the unemployed youth of the state a stipend, like the Telangana government does.
3. TD likely to field Silpa as its candidate :  Kurnool district politics is getting murkier by the day with the ruling party MLAs bent on asserting their power and trying to outwit the rivals within the party.
4.  Farmers clueless on lead-laced crop in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh :  Nizamabad in TS and Duggirala in AP are the biggest markets for turmeric locally, but farmers are not aware how lead seeps into the crop.
5.  Anantapur: Power pilferage keeps officials on their toes :   The Power vigilance wing identified that a number of water purification plants were involved in power pilferage in the region. The power allocated for agriculture is being used by the water purification plants without paying bill for even pumping water from the borewells.
6.  : Future of INS Viraat uncertain  : Uncertainty dogs the proposal to convert Indian Naval Ship (INS) Viraat into a floating luxury hotel and museum in Vizag coast as the Andhra Pradesh government is yet to finalise the project.
7.   Kallam reluctant to take up Chief Secretary position :  Incoming Chief Secretary (CS) Ajeya Kallam is reluctant to occupy the post, but it is assumed that he will take charge on March 1, 2017. He has expressed his reluctance to the government, stating that his superannuation is due on March 31, 2017.
8.  Nellore: 11,005 bogus voters removed :  As many as 11,005 bogus voters, who found their way into the electoral rolls of East Rayalaseema graduates’ constituency, consisting of Nellore, Prakasam and Chittoor districts, allegedly because of the negligence of officials at mandal level in checking the attestation of graduate certificates before uploading the applications, were eliminated from the list.
9.  Two Maoists killed by Vizag security forces in exchange of fire :  Vizag rural police shot down two Maoists in a shoot-out between the security forces and Maoists, on Friday morning. The incident occurred in a forest of Annavaram area, which comes under the Koyyuru police station limits of Vizag Agency.
10.  RS MP Subbarami Reddy hints at retirement, kin won’t enter politics :  Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy on Thursday hinted at retirement from active politics after his present term to the House of Elders ends. Mr Reddy also said that since no other member of his family was interested in politics, he had no political heir.
