Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi became a butt of jokes after the crushing defeat in the five state elections whose results were declared yesterday. What came as a rude shock is even the master stroke of Rahul Gandhi-Akhilesh Yadav's UP Ke Ladke dance with Cong-SP alliance got drowned under Modi wave.
But Prashant Kishor and Congress party got a huge shock at the hands of BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Congress might have won Punjab but it is due to Captain Amarinder Singh and his decision to stop taking the services of Prashant Kishor and his strategic services.
Now after the saffron shock, Prashant Kishor blasted Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for not giving him free hand. But many say it was Kishor who batted for the SP-Congress combine and this reduced both the parties strength. SP won less than 50 seats and Congress just 7.
They thought public memory is short as Congress conveniently dumped slogans like "27 saal UP behaal" against SP and came with new ones "UP ko ye saath pasand hai"
In the beginning, Prashant Kishor remained persona non grata in Congress. Kishor couldn't implement his strategies and his suggestions like declaring Rahul Gandhi as CM candidate and Priyanka leading the campaign were rejected outright.
Congress leaders too complained against Kishor's “autocratic style of functioning” and “unsolicited interference” in organisational matters and also unilateral decision making. Overall it is a fall from grace for Prashant Kishor.
