1.   Despite squall alert, heat & humidity to continue :  A thunderstorm warning not with standing, Hyderabad will continue to sizzle for the next few days. On Friday, the maximum temperature recorded was 42.4 degrees Celsius, which officials said was four degrees higher than normal.
2.  Debit card fraud cuffs on 2 from Jharkhand :  Sleuths of the cyber cell of the Rachakonda police, on Friday, arrested two persons from Giridih district in Jharkhand for cheating a debit card holder from the city.
3.  3 coaches of Hyderabad-bound train derail near Bidar :       Passengers travelling on the Aurangabad-Hyderabad passenger train had a scary time after the train derailed in Bidar district early on Friday, triggering panic and causing diversions of many trains. 
4.  Last-minute holiday plans burn a hole in residents' pockets: Survey :  While the frequency of vacations among city travellers is on the rise in recent times, most of those are last-minute plans. This was revealed in a survey conducted by a global travel search company.
5.  Court allows Aseemanand to travel out of Hyderabad till May 17 :  A court here on Friday granted permission till May 17 to Swami Aseemanand, an accused in the 2007 Mecca Masjid bomb blast case, to travel out of Hyderabad.
7.  Kukatpally gold heist: Cops suspect inside hand :  Those involved in the theft of 3.5 kg jewellery in Kukatpally are believed to have fled towards Ameerpet using NH-65 or AS Raju colony after committing the offence in Kukatpally. Police are verifying various CCTV footages.
8.  Corporate colleges decline summer break in NEET garb :  The corporate and private intermediate colleges in the city seem to have learnt no lessons, despite being hauled up for keeping colleges open in summer.
9.  Cops bust chain-snatching gang, 15 tola of gold seized :  Acting on a tip off, sleuths of the Keesara police station on Friday arrested three members belonging to a chain snatching gang.
10.  Man held for theft, 2 bikes recovered :  Nampally police arrested a man for vehicle theft and recovered two stolen Honda scooters from his possession on Friday.

Andhra Pradesh
1.   Naidu for action against misuse of social media :    Even as the arrest of social media commentator I. Ravi Kiran in Hyderabad on Friday raised the hackles of supporters of ‘new media’, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made no bones of his intention to crack the whip on what he called irresponsible and obscene posts on such platforms. 
2.  KCR unveils scheme for farmers :  Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday unveiled what he called the first ever such intervention in the country to bail out the farm sector from crisis, a new financial assistance scheme for input investment towards making Telangana a welfare State. The scheme would cost about Rs.8,000 crore a year to the exchequer.
3.  Ruling on plea against Jagan on April 28 :  The Principal Court for CBI cases here on Friday posted for April 28 orders on the plea of the investigating agency to cancel the bail of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the 11 quid pro quo cases pending against him after hearing both sides.
4.  Nod for 2 DM seats in KMC :  The Union Ministry of Health and an Oversight Committee appointed by the Supreme Court have accorded permission to the Kurnool Medical College to admit two postgraduate students in DM Gastroenterology course, head of Gastroenterology B. Shankar Sharma said on Friday.
5.  RTC revenue loss, a huge challenge: Atchannaidu :  The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is faced with a huge challenge of overcoming accumulated revenue loss to the tune of Rs. 750 crore, admitted Transport Minister K. Atchannaidu on Friday.
6.  Narayana files defamation case against Sakshi :  Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana filed a defamation suit against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Sakshi Group for allegedly spreading falsehoods against him vis-à-vis the construction of capital city Amaravati, in a city court on Friday.
7.   Need to speed up Smart City works: E.G. Collector :  Highlighting the need for speeding up the works taken up under the Smart City initiative, East Godavari District Collector and special officer of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation Kartikeya Mishra on Friday said that steps would be initiated to ensure supply of drinking water through pipelines to all the householders by the end of the current year.
8.  CM facing threat from Maoists’ :  Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is in the crosshairs of the Maoists after 31 Naxalites were killed in the exchange of fire that took place in October last at Ramaguda or Ramgarh in the cut-off area of the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB), Director-General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao has said.
9.  K.V. Ramana takes charge of APSWC :  K.V. Ramana assumed office of the Managing Director of the A.P. State Warehousing Corporation (APSWC) on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, corporation’s Chairman L.V.S.R.K. Prasad stressed the need to shif the head office to Vijayawada. Mr. Ramana said that pending projects would be completed at the earliest.
10.  YSRC opposes land allotment to Allana group. :  The YSR Congress will stage a protest if the land allotted to the Mumbai-based food processing and export major, Frigerio Conserva Allana Private Limited, is not taken back by the APIIC.
