1.  2 more C-section deaths at Niloufer, min in denial :  In a cause for concern, two more women died on Saturday in Niloufer hospital after undergoing caesarean operation. This is the second round of maternal deaths this week. The toll in the last two days has gone up to five.
2.  Consumer forum tells theatres to provide free drinking water :  Cine-goers in the city will not need to cough up extra bucks to buy a bottle of water at theatres soon, thanks to a recent judgment issued by a district consumer forum directing all theatremanagements to provide free purified water outlets for consumers.
3.  C-section deaths: Plea in human rights panel :  Two days after two women died in a city hospital after they underwent Caesarean section, a complaint was filed with the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) seeking inquiry into the matter. 
4.  2 women end life as in-laws seek dowry :  Two housewives committed suicide in separate incidents since Friday night due to alleged harassment.
5.  Rollout of star ratings to be fee yardstick in hospitals :  A star-rating system is set to roll out for the first time in all hospitals in the state after the government adopted the Clinical Establishments Regulation (Registration & Regulation) Act 2010. In the new system, hospitals will bag more stars if they provide more facilities.
6.  Coordination gap triggers botched surgeries in OT :  The relatively high mortality rate after Caesarian sections in government maternity hospitals in the city are allegedly due to lack of coordination between anaesthetists and surgeons.
7.  More power for IT hub pedestrians as ‘pelicans’ come to their rescue :  While 10 areas in Hyderabad region have received approvals from the GHMC for the setting up of pedestrian-friendly pelican signals, not even a single location of the 37 proposed sites in Cyberabad,have got the civic body nod yet.
8.  Women’s hostels lack gates, watchmen, but rely on CCTV :  As per the results of a recently-concluded audit of women's hostels and paying guest (PG) accommodations in Madhapur, Gachibowli and Raidurgam areas, around 11% of the 197 hostels surveyed do not have main gates while as many as 23% have not employed a watchman.
9.  50 duped with govt job promise, ex-GHMC official among 6 held :  Task Force sleuths on Saturday arrested Vinay Kumar, a suspended bill collector of GHMC, for cheating over 50 people by promising them government jobs and charging them money for it.
10.  Farmers with less than acre to lose out on KCR bounty? :  At a time when the state finances are under immense stress due to non-realization of revenues from key sectors, the latest move of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to provide '4,000 per acre to each farmer to buy inputs surely will leave the exchequer gasping.


Andhra Pradesh
1.  Release pending crop insurance in Anantapur district: CPI(M) :  CPI(M) district secretary Rambhupal on Saturday demanded that the State government immediately release the pending crop insurance claim of the last year to enable the farmers to tide over the immediate crisis.
2.  'Justice will be done to AgriGold customers’ :  Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N. Chinarajappa said justice would be done to AgriGold customers in accordance with the court directions.
3.  Off-shore reservoir in one year, says Minister :  Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on Saturday said that the State government accorded top priority to the construction of irrigation projects in North Andhra by allocating around Rs. 15,000 crore in 2017-18. He reminded that the government had spent around Rs. 25,000 crore in the last three years. 
4.  Veerraju seeks CM’s intervention :  BJP National Executive member and MLC Somu Veerraju has urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to hold discussions with cement manufacturers and direct them to scale down the price of the commodity instead of passing on the responsibility to a committee headed by the Finance Minister. In a letter to Mr. Naidu on Saturday, Mr. Veerraju said that the attention paid by the government to the cement price issue was welcome, but it should have pursued the matter at the highest level instead of setting up the committee. 
5.  RINL achieves self-sufficiency in meeting power needs :    Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh on Saturday highlighted the need to be self-sufficient in power generation and complimented Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) for its efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in meeting its power requirement.
6.  CRDA trying to mislead NGT: Social activist :  The AP Capital Regional Development Authority (APCRDA) seems to be under the wrong impression that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) would allow it to destroy 10,000 acres of Krishna floodplain and tinker with Kondaveeti Vagu, said social activist Bolisetty Satyanarayana.
7.  Polavaram work needs to be expedited: CWC expert :  The Polavaram project work needs to be expedited if the targets set by the State government are to be achieved, according to Chairman, Union Water Resources Expert Committee for the monitoring of the National Project chairman S. Masood Husain.
8.  Admission test for IIDT second batch on June 25 :  International Institute of Digital Technologies (IIDT) set up by the State government for development on the lines of ISB-Hyderabad will introduce one-year residential PG diploma course in artificial intelligence and machine learning in Visakhapatnam.
9.  DRM: Avoid inconvenience to differently-abled passengers :  Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) R. Dhananjayulu on Saturday inspected the platforms, reservation office, catering stalls and other facilities at the Vijayawada railway station.
10.  Russian team calls on Naidu : Russian delegation led by Boris Dubrovsky, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, and Ruslan Gattarov, Deputy Governor, met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Undavalli on Saturday.
