2.  Transport department's failures triggering road tragedies' :  A lorry driven by a drunk and unqualified driver mowed down protesters and crushed 15 people to death in Chittoor district's Yerpedu three days ago. 
3.  Iconic Assembly building was Osmania University's public exam hall :  Osmania University, which is celebrating its centenary on April 26, has a close connection with the state Assembly. In the initial years of its formation, Osmania Universityconducted public examinations in the state Assembly building - then known as the Town Hall.

5. Heavy vehicles' threat to tigers in Kawal reserve? :  Telangana government has constituted a four-member committee to study the impact of relaxing ban on movement of heavy vehicles through the 60km stretch of Kawal Tiger Reserve. 
6.  K Chandrasekhar Rao seeks income tax sops for agriculture-allied trades :  Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has requested PM Narendra Modi to exempt from the income tax, agricultural related and depended trades as is done with the agriculture sector. 
7.  Telengana ready for simultaneous Assembly, Lok Sabha polls :  Telangana will go to early polls along withLok Sabha elections, if it so happens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is learnt to have informed chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao about his plans to advance the elections and to go for simultaneous polls along with state assemblies.
8.  Bacteria causing diarrhoea deaths in children resists key antibiotic :  Researchers have found that Shigella bacteria that causes severe diarrhoea and even deaths in children has developed resistance to the powerful drug, ciprofloxacin.
9.  Hyderabad: Fake doctor slapped with Rs 2.4 lakh fine by forum :  A district consumer forum has directed a man, masquerading as a doctor, to pay Rs 2.4 lakh compensation to a parent for causing untimely death of his 23-year-old son.
10. HC for status quo on land acquisition in Penumaka :  Here is a setback for the Andhra Pradesh government which is moving ahead with the land acquisition in the riverfront villages in Krishna district for Amaravati capital city.


Andhra Pradesh
1.  TDP MP’s son creates ruckus at toll plaza :  Son of the Hindupur TDP MP Nimmala Kistappa — Ambarish — created a ruckus at the toll plaza near the Bagepalli district headquarters in Karnataka damaging property along with his followers.
2.  Chilli crisis: APRS to step up agitation :  The Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangam (APRS) on Monday threatened to intensify agitation in support of chilli growers who are in dire straits following market crash.
3.  Congress will bounce back in next elections’ :  Former Minister and senior Congress leader Kondru Murali Mohan said that the Congress would be a formidable force in Andhra Pradesh within no time as the other opposition parties, including the YSR Congress, were not in a position to highlight the ‘misdeeds’ of the Telugu Desam government. 
4.  Sand mining allegations put TDP on the back foot :  Stung by widespread allegations of sand mining in Yerpedu mandal, which came to the fore following the death of 14 persons in a road accident, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is clearly on the back foot for its alleged indifference to the issue.
5.  Six-lane highway to bypass accident-prone Yerpedu Jn. :  The ghastly truck disaster that led to the loss of over a dozen lives at Yerpedu junction recently accentuates the importance of widening the national highways and realigning the road geometry by removing the black spots.
6.  Focus on roads in villages, Lokesh tells officials :  Minister for Panchayat Raj, Information Technology and Rural Development Nara Lokesh on Monday exhorted the panchayat officials to initiate measures for laying of 12,000-km of cement roads in villages in the next two years stating that Andhra Pradesh was ranked No. 1 in the country in laying roads to improve the connectivity.
7.  Purushothapatnam project by Aug. 15: Naidu :  Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to speed up the works on Purushothapatnam lift irrigation project so as to inaugurate it on August 15.
8.  RTI activist alleges attack by TDP sarpanch :  Etikoppaka sarpanch K. Chiranjeevi of TDP and his followers have allegedly assaulted K. Venkata Ramana, an RTI activist, who pointed out the unauthorised constructions, illegal sand mining and illegal activities of the sarpanch.

10.  Two LIC policies make Aadhaar mandatory :  The LIC has launched two policies making Aadhaar card mandatory for the issue of the policies. The two policies are “Aadhaar Stambh” for men and “Aadhaar Shila” for women, with 10% extra risk coverage for women.
