Patna sources have stated that the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is understood to have warned his party leaders of action if they continued to target Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, to smooth ruffled feathers of the supreme ally. According to sources the JD (U), of which Kumar is the president, reciprocated by hinting that it would go with the opposition in the upcoming vice-presidential election.
Meanwhile Media reports have stated that Gandhi intervened in favor of Kumar and instructed party leaders not to criticize the Bihar chief minister and Bihar Congress president Ashok Choudhary confirmed that he had a meeting with Gandhi earlier this week in Delhi but refused to divulge what transpired there.
As per report it was stated that Gandhi, during his meeting with
Choudhary, hinted that action would be taken against leaders issuing statements
against Kumar. Moreover the sparring began after senior Congress leader Ghulam
Nabi Azad attacked Kumar for breaking ranks with the opposition and supporting
NDA's pick Ram Nath Kovind for the 17 July presidential poll.
