Ram Nath Kovind is elected as India's 14th President and he won comfortably by securing 65.65% votes. This is the first time India is going to have a President hailing from Uttar Pradesh. It should be noted that Uttar Pradesh has already provided 9 Prime Ministers till date.


Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have sent three presidents to Rashtrapati Bhavan earlier. The final tally of the counting is listed below,


On the other hand, UPA Candidate Meira Kumar just managed to get 34.35% of votes. As per reports, 522 MPs voted for Kovind and 225 voted for Meira kumar. However, in the last presidential elections Pranab Mukherjee defeated PA Sangma by more than 69% of votes.
