Hyderabad sources have stated that once again Gulf jobs have proved to be non-remunerative as 900 skilled workers from India were on the road after a company they were working was shut down without notice. A total of 170 workers of 900 Indian workforces is from the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Moreover, in all, 30 persons from Telangana are affected by the job loss when the industrial manufacturing company Petron Gulf was shut down services without any notice. The company owed to its employees four months of salary including gratuity. Sources have stated that the employees got Power Of Attorney (POA) attested by the Indian Embassy to file a case against the company.


Meanwhile, in the first phase, 50 workers were sent to their respective hometowns in India after the Indian Embassy provided them air tickets. However, many of them have been stranded in Oman as they have no money to return to home. Currently Telangana Gulf Workers Association urged the government to provided rehabilitation to the Gulf workers and considers them as beneficiaries of welfare schemes. The Association also urged the government to come forward by provide legal help to the workers to win the case in Oman.
