According to sources BCCC (Broadcasting Content Complaint Council), the regulatory body for Television content, has directed Sony channel to shift its controversial daily serial 'Pehredaar Piya Ki' to the 10 pm slot so that children do not watch it. The channel management was also advised to run a scroll saying the daily soap does not promote child marriage.

Sources have stated that the decision has been taken on Thursday amidst demands that the daily serial is banned. The serial, which began airing last month on Sony channel, focuses on a nine-year-old boy's marriage to an 18-year-old girl. The soap is accused of having some alleged 'intimate scenes' between the kid and the woman.

"Pehredaar Piya Ki" has been slammed by viewers for allegedly promoting 'child marriage'. It was stated that more than one lakh people had signed an online petition urging Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani to ban the show, following which she redirected the issue to the BCCC.
