New Delhi sources have stated that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi admitted that the UPA government had been "unable" to deliver on the 30,000 jobs it promised to create every day, but was quick to point out that it is a goal the BJP-led NDA will also fail to meet at the current rate.

The Congress leader during an interaction with students and faculty+ at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School stated that "Those same people who got angry with us because we couldn't deliver on those 30,000 jobs (a day) are going to get angry with Mr Modi". Meanwhile Rahul went so far as to admit that it was the Congress-led UPA's failure in the jobs arena that was directly responsible for Modi's rise.

The Congress vice-president said "The central reason why a Mr. Modi rose and to an extent why Mr. Trump came is the question of jobs in India and the United States". Meanwhile a large part of India's population that is unemployed, Rahul further charged, is feeling the pain. And it is this group that supported "these types of leaders". Rahul believes Modi and the BJP haven't understood how important it is to keep the promise to create jobs.
