Hyderabad sources have revealed that a 33 year old man was arrested on Wednesday for making ransom calls to city industrialist Manoj V. Parmar and attempting to extort Rs80 lakh from him. Meanwhile the accused Sarath Kumar Sahu, an electrician, and native of Odisha was nabbed from Jubilee Bus stand.
According to sources the complainant Manoj said that he received messages and calls from an unknown number to his phone number wherein the caller was using very vulgar language. He further said the caller also threatened that he has installed CCTV cameras in his bathroom and recorded all the videos of his family and would leak them if he did not pay the money.
Meanwhile Ramgopalpet Inspector P. Murali Krishna
said, “They had tracked the accused cell phone and nabbed him and moreover they
revealed that the businessman was due to pay Rs1.3 lakh in the past which the
former didn’t pay. He then hatched a plan to extort money." A case under
sections 387, 507 of the IPC was registered.
