Morbi sources from Gujarat have stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had campaigned yesterday in Gujarat's vast Saurashtra region, pockets of which are dominated by the Patel community who’s backing both their parties hope to get in next month's assembly elections.



Meanwhile Rahul Gandhi had addressed all his three rallies in Saurashtra. He had begun from Somnath, where he had first visited the famous Somnath temple. Moreover Mr. Gandhi has been accused by the BJP of trying to win Gujarat's Hindu votes by frequently visiting temples during his campaign, which the party alleges he is unaccustomed to doing.

PM Narendra Modi had pitched the election as a battle between vikaas (development) vs Vanshwaad (dynasty), and said he was requesting the Congress not to "mock his poor origins as a tea seller. Accordingly Gujarat will vote on two days, December 9 and 14 and votes will be counted on December 18.
