This time in the city more than the toughness in the elections, the number of candidates are more. While each EVM can accommodate sixteen names but to our surprise there are thirty names in each of them. With too many candidates still remaining to contest the elections from 15 Assembly constituencies and two Parliamentary constituencies in the city, the Hyderabad District Election authorities are facing a shortage of 2,300 electronic voting machines. Though the authorities have over 13,000 EVMs, the shortage has arisen as nearly 400 candidates are in fray from Assembly and LS constituencies in Hyderabad. Hyderabad District Election Officer Somesh Kumar has written to the Chief Electoral officer for 2,300 more EVMs. Each EVM can accommodate 16 names. But there are more than 30 candidates in many places. This shortage is also due to improper working of the EVMs. All these problems are being checked so as for peaceful elections by the Election Commission
