Congress boss Sonia Gandhi is all set for her election rally at Karimnagar in Telangana today which will be her first public meeting in the Andhra Pradesh after the passage of Telangana Statehood Bill in February.
The rally is expected to take place in evening and is crucial for Congress leaders in Telangana as they have pinned all their hopes on her campaign to boost the morale of cadres. As of now, the situation is bad for the Congress with TRS ditching them.
This is critical as they need to ward off competition from regional heavyweights like TRS and the TDP-BJP combine. It was in Karimnagar that the Congress chief gave her pro-Telangana comments several years ago.
TRS has decided to go it alone in the polls after refusing an alliance or merger with Congress while TDP and BJP are working hard to get their cadre together. The last Sonia was seen in AP was during YSR’s funeral and later she landed in Puttaparthy for few hours during Sai Baba’s funeral.
