The Election Commission is reportedly undertaking extensive surveillance of YSRCP nominee for Vijayawada Lok Sabha and one of the prime accused in economic offence cases, Koneru Prasad with numerous complaints regarding the massive spending by him during the current election campaign.
Sources say that the EC has sought a detailed report on the spending records that Prasad submitted and the records which are being gathered by expenditure observers in this urban constituency even as EC is taking up a separate probe into this issue after getting flooded with complaints along with evidence.
EC is reportedly conducting surveillance on Koneru Prasad in view of the charges against him in the high profile Emaar case where the CBI has charge sheeted him for making Rs.175 crore by fabricating bogus records in the Emaar properties case.
Sources add that EC has received a recent complaint that Prasad was building a make-shift party campaign office in the city at a cost of more than Rs.30 lakh, the same person who submitted affidavit to EC saying his monthly income is no more than Rs 3000.
