There are reports coming in that the 46-year-old dynamic politician Shobha Nagireddy enquired from her aides regarding the most auspicious time for taking oath as minister for the Jaganmohan Reddy led government in Seemandhra. Sources say that Shobha was confident that YSR Congress will sweep the polls and also sure that she would be made a minister. But fate had other plans. Shobha belonged to a family which dominated Kurnool politics for the last four decades. Her father S V Subba Reddy was a four-time minister in Telugu Desam government. Her family virtually controls the faction-ridden Allagadda, Panyam, Nandyal, Banaganapalle and Patikonda assembly segments in Kurnool district. Shobha reportedly fell in love with Bhooma Nagireddy during her intermediate at Raghavendra Junior college in Allagadda and when her father initially disapproved, the couple eloped but her father finally consented and they tied the knot. Shobha entered active politics when her husband Nagireddy was elected as MP from Nandyal on a TDP ticket and vacated the Allagada assembly seat. She entered the contest and became MLA for the first time in 1997 and Chandrababu appointed her the first woman chairperson of APSRTC, which is the biggest state corporation with more than one lakh employees.
