Atmakur is native for both Anam family and Mekapati family. Nellore MP Mekapati’s son Gowtham Reddy won this Segment in 2014 general elections over former Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy. Anam is waiting for the right opportunity to hit Mekapati family. He moved strategically and put check to Mekapati family in the election of Atmakur Chairman.
YSRCP won 10 Municipal wards out of total 23 in Atmakur. Congress won 8 wards and TDP with 4 wards and independent one each. Both father and son took the option of their voting in Atmakur Segment. YSRCP strength reached to 12 that were enough to capture Chairman for Atmakur Municipality.
Reportedly, Anam was entered into the scene and gather the support of 4 TDP ward members along with Independent for the Congress party. Congress still needs one more ward member support to bag Chairmanship of Atmakur. Anam influenced two YSRCP ward members and get their support to the Congress. Mekapati Gothwm Reddy has known this issue and start fighting with two ward members before the people. Anam exposed Mekapati son attitude openly. Congress party won only one Municipality i.e. Atmakur Municipality.
