It was a meeting of two high profile people of this land. Princess Esra Birgin, who is the former wife of the eighth Nizam Prince Mukarram Jah, has reportedly requested Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao to make sure that he uses some of his good offices to get back the priceless Nizam’s jewellery for their display in Hyderabad. Ms Esra reportedly made this request when she had made a courtesy visit to the CM’s camp office yesterday. Sources say that Ms Esra reportedly told Mr Rao that these valuable pieces of jewellery which are currently locked in the RBI vaults would be a huge treasure for the city if Hyderabad. She reportedly asserted that they actually belong to Hyderabad and should actually remain here. Mr Rao reportedly assured Ms Esra that he would be taking up the issue with the Centre and work hard to bring back the famed multi-crore jewelleries for display in Hyderabad. Although officials have called it a courtesy call, the Princess has reportedly even requested for renaming Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Park after the name of Mukarram Jah. The Turkey-born Princess Esra played a key role in restoring the glory of the famous Chowmahalla Palace near Charminar.
