Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao is reportedly drawing plans to construct a special tank, to be named Vinayaksagar, exclusively for the immersion of Ganesh and Durga idols and that Bathukamma near Indira Park.
The plan also includes diverting all nalas to save the Hussainsagar Lake in Hyderabad while directing officials to immediately start diverting polluted water from various nalas from emptying into Hussainsagar and save the picturesque lake at any cost.
Mr Rao, made a surprise tour of Hussainsagar Lake yesterday including Necklace Road, and he was put reportedly put off due to the stink and also expressed his anguish over destruction of the a fresh water lake that supplied drinking water to the city of Hyderabad since 1562 till 1970s.
KCR is reportedly planning to clean up the lake with a shramadaanam programme with the support of people. There are reports that Vinayak Sagar may come up in 10 -15 acres of Indira park only for idol immersions while the government is planning to convince people to leave Hussain sagar from immersion mess and toxic chemicals!
