In what could be a hint of worsening ties even before a formal alliance is announced, sources say that the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) is very much restive over TRS delaying elections for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The MIM which has strong roots in the GHMC limits, especially in the region of Old City, and is demanding that elections have to be held immediately, while TRS wants to take its own time till it makes inroads. This is reportedly creating a wedge for the fledgling friendship between the two parties. Apart from postponement of the GHMC elections, a proposal for trifurcating the municipal corporation is becoming a bone of contention, with MIM against the government's unilateral approach. At the same time CM KCR’s formula for regularizing encroached government land as well as realignment of the Hyderabad Metro Rail is widening the gap between the TRS and the MIM. If the alliance is not happening, it would be a big blow to TRS.
