According to reports, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen alias MIM party, has so far reportedly enrolled one lakh members in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Secular parties feel by splitting Muslim votes, MIM is only benefitting BJP.

The MIM MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri has reportedly revealed that party was making inroads into Uttar Pradesh for helping scores of Muslims and Dalits who are being cheated by the ruling Samajwadi Party.

The party has reportedly started its online membership drive and it has already enlisted immense support of people from 49 districts, with booth-level committees becoming functional in nearly 15 districts of UP, as per Lucknow convener of MIM, Shaukat Ali.

This is reportedly making the ruling Samajwadi Party nervous at the prospect sof the MIM making a political debut in UP and this is the reason why permission was denied to MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi for holding rallies in Azamgarh.
