This may look like an instance of getting dressed up but nowhere to go for the Hyderabad metro rail project. The formal inauguration of the first section of service, expected on the occasion of Ugadi this year has been postponed for all practical purposes

The TRS government which is very particular on capturing power in GHMC elections is planning to postpone the launch of the metro rail to coincide with polls held sometime early in 2016.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) had earlier announced that two stretches would be operational in 2015. These are Nagole and Mettuguda for Ugadi and Miyapur to SR Nagar as an Independence Day gift.

The HMRL, however, would now miss these deadlines with CM K Chandrasekhar Rao planning launch the service as a gala event just before the GHMC polls for obvious reasons.
