United Nations today condemned Nirbhaya rapist remarks terming them as "unspeakable". Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson of UN Secretary general Ban Ki moon stressed the need for men halting the atrocities against women and refused to comment on rapist Mukesh Singh, one of the convicts who raped Nirbhaya on the fateful night 12, Dec 2012 saying the remarks were 'unspeakable'.

Mukesh Singh's remarks blaming Nirbhaya for the rape in an interview to BBC for a documentary triggered huge outcry forcing Union Government to ban the film. However BBC is going all out to air the documentary on March 8,International Women's Day.

India in the meantime is exploring ways to stop the documentary being aired internationally too. UN Spokesperson refused Indian Government's decision to ban saying UN's position on freedom of press is clear but various countries have different set of rules.

One gets the impression that UN is turning toothless and spineless on important issues. On many occasions UN ducked down looking other way without taking firm decision and it seems this is another one such incident for it.
